Description
Some madrone trees from my backyard, with a smoke tree in the background. Madrones frequently fuse their trunks together like this - it's very common. I've tried searching online to find out why this particular species of tree tends to do that, but haven't been able to find an answer. If anyone knows, please enlighten me...

I had to look that up, we call it Arbutus. The colour seems very unnatural to me, so maybe yours are a different species.

The bark undergoes many transformations over the life of our madrones, varying from rough to very smooth & in color from orange to yellow to green.

I have in friend in Oregon who sends me bird photos with madrone in the background. It's nice to see more of the tree here. I find them fascinating. Thanks for sharing. :)

I don't have a clue about why they do that. But this is a beautiful shot, and that other tree (smoke tree?) is lovely too. Great capture!

Wow, this is a very beautiful photo, and fantastic trees you have in your garden. The colours are amazing and I like the post work too. (btw, thank you so much for your fine comment, I'm very pleased with it!)

I have no idea! I've seen other trees with branches that grow into each other, but never anything so completely seamless. Fascinating!

An amazing photo and excellent textures on the left tree!
