Description
I spent the night in St. George, a pleasant town in Southwest Utah. Bright and early the next morning I was headed north and east towards Moab and Arches National Park. After a few hours on the road I saw a sign for a rest area. I decided to fill up the car and myself. As I drove down a two lane country road I passed a wooden barn that I thought would make a good picture. On the way back to the highway I parked in a lot across from the barn intending to spend a few minutes shooting the barn. A pleasant looking older man quickly collared me and asked if I would like a tour of the site. Elder Borzea was a volunteer guide at the Cove Fort Historic Site which turned out to be a settlement founded by the Mormons in the 1860s. The few minutes turned into over an hour during which I saw the fort, the barn and received quite an education.
