Description
Rendered this in LuxRender through Reality 2.5/DAZ|Studio.
This cooked for 44.75 hours with 7 lights, the render came out lighter than I had hoped in areas so I pulled some post-work in Photoshop CC2014 with Nik filters and some masking.
Outside of the render time I spent a lot of time doing test renders and posing. I changed the figure in the hall way several times and settled on a simple Genesis figure with Freak morphs/shapes scaled up to just under 200%. The figure has no texture, bump or disposition on him and is colored with the default grey color.
I used one Soft-box light tinted red behind the big guy and converted his eyes to simple white mesh lights. The remaining lights in this scene are the lights on the prop objects converted to Mesh Lights (5 of them in total).
This is one of my first complete scenes (not just a figure posed on a white 'stage') since I got my new PC back in June. Before I got this PC I had all kinds of hopes and ideas of what I would render if I had a PC that could handle it....I find that now that I have the PC nothing looks or feels just right once I render them. I am happy that this piece turned out the way it did but I have so much more I want to share...it is just a matter of getting what I see in my mind to be translated through to my renders.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by and view this piece and thank you all for commenting and rating my previous pieces, your kind words are appreciated and refreshing.

it looks good to me.. the shadows really contribute to the picture.. i think if you had lit it more brightly it would not have looked as good so you did good keeping the tones down.. the muted colors work well too.. Monica..

Excellent work . . . well worth the 44 hours it took to render! And there's nothing wrong with post work, considering the amount of 'pre-work' that went into this before you hit tat render button.

very good work! I know how frustrating it can be. I can spend hours on fitting clothes, posing, adjusting lighting and hundreds of very loooong test renders. I use an iMac with only 2 cores. When I know LuxRender is going to need the extra horsepower, I use my laptop and often my wife's iMac on our home network to do distributed renders. Lux is great because it supports network rendering almost effortlessly. Anyway I dig this scene and just keep at it, it will all come together for you someday :)
