Description

Are at home at the moment. Unfortunately it is November the 5th Bonfire night. The night when we celebrate Guy Fawkes NOT blowing up the Houses of Parliament. Dave has taken the girls to a nice quiet spot in the country away from the dreadful noise that is going on, its like being in a war zone I am sure. Meadow & Jasmine are terrified of the bangs. Yes they are gundogs but the prey, if they were out hunting, would not be BOMBED. When I was a child the fireworks were pretty, there was one that made a noise & that was the Banger. When I was at an organised display as a child a rocket came back down to earth & hit me in the face, just missing my eye. My cousin & my coats were burnt. Needless to say I HATE THE THINGS. I have NO proble, with people enjoying an organised display, what I do have problems with is that November the 5th starts on 31st October & finishes a fortnight later. I also think firworks should only be sold for organised celebrations, not to the public for birthdays, new kitchens, new microwaves or the like. Yes I am a firework BAH HUMBUG!!!!!!!! Thanks for all the lovely comments & favs, so, so appreciated. xxx

I do SO agree with you, Barbara! I did some research out of idle interest about the price of those bombing raids. They go from about £50 a go to nearly £2000 for a barrage. How is it that folk with no common sense or manners have all that dosh?

I detest fireworks outside of staged events by licensed people. unfortunately both of my dogs are afraid of the noise, but gun shots and having fireworks set my house on fire is my main concern

Poor girls :( It's a travesty that you and others (including us in the past) have to do these things to keep our dogs safe and hopefully out of harm's way. Fortunately, Maya's been really chilled about them this year - in previous years she had done a little barking, but she's not terrified of them like some thank God. I'm with you on the issue of banning them as you know :) 2 main problems that has changed things since we were kids are the bangs have got louder beyond belief and totally unnecessary, and the mentality of people today. They just don't care. When we lived at out old house, the local yobs used to fire rockets aimed at our houses and the police just weren't interested. I phoned them the year before we left and they simply asked me if my house was on fire. It wasn't so they didn't want to know.

Barbara, allow me to say that many of us who love animals here in the states share your views. Our Fourth of July is similar to you're Bonfire Night, and something that I dread each year. Although it is supposedly illegal to set off fireworks in our city, people do it on a regular basis as the holiday approaches and after it is ended. My babies are always so upset and keep me up until wee hours of the night during this dreadful time. So glad that Dave is taking the girls to a safer location.

Love fire works at least on the 4th of July, but otherwise have little use for them, glad the girls had a place away from the noise, outstanding capture!

Very good photo. When I was a wee lady, so many decades ago, I loved the flash and bang of fireworks, event those we set ourselves. Now these days, I'd just as soon find a nice comfy spot with a good book and ignore the little brats that come screaming and not even have one original thought between them

I put my dogs in their play-pen next to the stereo and turn it up. They sleep like babies and the noise doesn't bother them. They got so used to sleeping to music that they get upset now if I forget to turn it on.

A fantastic photo of the girls Barbara! I have enjoyed fireworks all of my life but always from a distance. As a young lad, I had a sensitive ear and couldn’t be near any loud noises. A fantastic photo of the girls Barbara!
