Description


Sparassis crispa. Good to eat if you don't mind a mouthful of grit, very tricky to clean! Found at the base of conifers, which is where this one is, but as you see surrounded by american oak leaves fallen from nearby ornamentals.

Call me fussy, but I'll pass on the grit. It's beautiful, though! Rather like seaweed. (I won't eat that, either. Vile stuff.) Some things were just meant to be admired. :P
