Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  Â

We do not lose many people to the alligators. Sharks seem to bite more people than alligators down here. Our mailing address is Delray Beach, Florida but we actually live west of Delray Beach's city limits - in what is called Unincorporated Portions of Palm Beach County. More like the Everglades than city living.

That would have scared the livin' daylights out of me ... anyhow, they do make attractive handbags and - can be very expensive ! thank heavens Steve Irwin missed this one ... BTW - there is nothing wrong, with seeing more picture of alligators - those are harmless ;)) Well done with a mobile phone, that's what we call them here ... LOL BB

Keep them coming Dana. We have Saltwater crocs over here.........but errrr.......they have far less 'sense of humour' than your gators. If we got this close we would be dinner.....period!

I like gator shots too. I too old to see how close I can get before running but I really never did that. My close up shots was when i was in the car and the gator was close to the road.

I've heard that if you rub their belly, that they fall asleep.I will let someone else try that.A fine shot of this large visitor.

I do not want to have such a visit on the doorstep. I think even if he is not very large, it can bite in the calf or so. Ouch! A superb capture.
caty77
A big surprise almost at the door!
MrsRatbag
It makes you think about stepping outside without looking around carefully first! I have heard that their tail can do quite a bit of damage if they whack you in a hurry too. Can't imagine seeing this outside the door! Great shot, Dana!
