Description

So, Fred, for those who don't know, has teeth. Big teeth. I took this shot seconds after the last post. As ferocious as he looks here, he was just yawning. After all, it was a sunny day and he had just had his ears scratched by the crazy human that kept looking at him with that thing with the big eye. He didn't seem to mind though. I still think he looks like a big, scruffy and well loved stuffed bear.

Ah, Fred the badger. I thought it was "How big teeth you have grandma" from Little Red Riding Hood, when I saw the title. Those teeth are impressive! And you sat there petting him and he enjoyed it! Wonderful! It shows they have a sense that you have it well with wild animals. I wonder how many humans could pet him with impunity? Ouch! This is the closest I'll ever get to a badger. The Africa Honey Badger is so fierce lions and other big predators avoid it at all cost. Pity the poor snake who doesn't have a family/parent to teach it to keep away! YouTube has several clips showing Honey Badgers going for poisonous snakes. They seem immune to the snakes venom. Lucky you to have had a close encounter of the friendly kind! Oh, did I say very nice photo? I'm studying Freds mouth - makes me think of a bears mouth. :-)
