Description

My 2014 post for Remembrance Day. This is a piece that I put together from a number of sources but the soldier in the right foreground is my own father, the image comes from a scan of a sketched by a street artist some where in Europe post June 1944. The sketch has out lasted the man, but it gives me great pride each time I look upon it. This image is the result of approx. 10 hours of clean up of the scanned image. The paper is old, wrinkled and faded, but now the image is preserved digitally. The other images are the landing at Juno Beach, June 6th, 1944, which my father took part in, an image of the Poppies in Flanders Field and a Canadian flag, all of which I found on-line. I know that I will never forget the great sacrifices that our service men and women have made, I hope that none do.

Nice tribute there ! Two points in my mind that aren't teach at school : the first is that Canadians were the "best first of all and the only" that went in this hell as true volunteers... and the second is about the poppies that was (and it's still for me) a symbol from the Australian army, the only one that didn't "shoot their soldiers for the example" during the first world war... Veteran myself, if I add to this the study of the History and the geopolitics, I must be disappointed on the fact of what is going to become the transhumanism : H+ they want to imrove for what.. except war ? For sure, we, our children and theirs won't stop making tributes...
