Description

Special notes: Okay, so I happened to find myself here the other day. I don't know much about sports, but I think this is what they call a hockey field. The idea is to throw your team-mate through the yellow goalie at the end of the field and score a basket. But that's not important. What I thought interesting is that the entire grassy field is on railroad tracks and they can roll it in and out of the stadium. P.S. Before I went down to the field I was told if I put one foot on the grass, some extremely large men would chase me down and beat me like an omelet. I have other photo's, the ones from the press box are cool. I'll post 'em if someone wants to see them, otherwise I won't bother. Hockey is a silly sport, what with the rollerblading and the balloons and the clowns that come out of little cars and ride surf boards.

All kidding aside, the purpose for this set up is that grass will not grow under a dome (go figure?) So the whole football field was built on railroad tracks to move it outside the stadium during the week for sunshine and watering, and then move it inside the stadium on game day. Cool shot.

Is the press booth where you get to flatten your nose against the glass and shout hailey bailey over when the puck goes in the basket? :) They have the engineering all wrong, there should be two fields with the stadium on wheels so there would never be any lost play days, ya think? Thanks for posting this, and yet another question, what was wrong with artifical surf and turf anyway! Lol

So I looked it up and found a Youtube video showing the field moving from outside to inside. Seriously, now ... now much better off is grass OUTside than INside in Phoenix? They could have saved SO much time and money if they'd put in artificial turf. Crazy gits ... what will they think of next?
