Description
"The Forgotten" a poem of Remembrance by Chris Schell
Here I lie,
From a forgotten war,
My Limbs all broke,
My body tore,
I drew breath once,
But not again,
But tell me not,
That I died in vain,
For freedoms breath,
I sold my soul,
For freedoms breath,
We paid the toll,
Here I lie,
To breath no more,
Here I lie,
from a forgotten war.
Let us not forget the horrible cost of war. To all our veterans old and new I give my honest and humble thanks.

The problem with war history remembers those that started them. Rarely the ones who died fighting them.

Indeed, and what's worse is that the civilian casualties are often completely over-looked or shrugged off. During, and long after the fighting is over, people continue to die from disease and starvation when the infrastructures of their country are destroyed. The price of war is far higher than most people ever consider and continues to be paid long after the soldiers have gone home.
