Description

The Ute and Paiute tribes have lived in Utah for 10,000 years. If you keep your eyes open you can find traces of their presence everywhere. On the way back from Delicate Arch I stopped to view these Ute petroglyphs. It looks like they were hunting antelope.

The cabin is just down the trail from the petroglyphs. I took a picture of it but I'm not sure if anyone is interested in seeing it.

Several of the figures looks like a person mounted on a horse. If so, the image cannot be more than about 400 years old as horses,(which evolved in N. America) had been hunted to extinction in N. America many years before the Spanish re-introduced them in the 16th century.

Hello 62guy, You are absolutely correct. The petroglyphs are most likely from the mid-17th century according to park literature.
