This display is part of the gigantic aquarium at the Atlantis Resort, Nassau, Bahamas. Pottery had been stacked for moray eels to live and breed much like an apartment complex. It was hard to judge the size of this green moray eel but I would guess 20 to 24 inches (51 to 61 cm). Photo taken a few years ago. Do zoom. Moray eels are a family of cosmopolitan eels. The approximately 200 species in 15 genera are almost exclusively saltwater, but several species are regularly seen in brackish water. The smallest moray is the Snyder's moray which attains a maximum length of 4.5 inches (11.5 cm) while the longest species, the slender giant moray reaches a length of 13 feet (4 meters).
