Fantastic capture and fantastic colors also... Fantastic POV !!!

Mon dieu, old Chicago haunting élégance amidst the lush Chicago foliage in this opposite effect of your usual high key captures, Mark. Is that gingerbread I see? In contrast, elements of neo architecture in the distance. I really like the POV employed; details, patterns, textures, geometrics and gothic feeling in this one. The right side foreground has Edgar Allan Poe written all over it.

Wonderful cityscape, Mark. I especially like that gargoyle & the deep red building in the foreground with the oval window. Classic brick & stone urban architecture of a bygone era lined up all in a row with more modern geometric structures & all softened by the framing trees. Also, many thanks for that truckload of comments you left in my gallery yesterday. It really means a lot to me when someone as thoughtful as you spends so much time in my gallery & shows so much appreciation for photos that I have put as much effort & energy as I possibly can into. And I'm sure everyone whose galleries you visit & upon whom you lavish your generous comments feels equally blessed by your appreciation of their work...

The first thing I noticed in this were the colors! They brought back memories of the days I'd spent, last summer, walking around after work: snapping photos like...well...like a photographer. (I was photo-bombed, by pigeons, roller-bladers, and the occasional seagull) And the funny thing about that is I've posted so few of those pictures. I guess I'll do so when it gets colder and I need those tastes of summer. But anyway, enough of that: this image brings back those wanders. I love the various facades on display here: in some ways, this makes me think of the ornate complexity of New Crobuzon, or any of the other cities I've read about in the past. Some elements of the architecture make me think of something in the general direction of the East Coast, the way you've captured it so crisply, but also at an oblique angle, gives it a wonderful mood of implication. There is so much that's unseen in this image, and yet what you do see is incredible. I love the various shapes: the turret, the roof-cone, the various shapes of shingles, bricks, windows...all of it works together and the way that each of the buildings stand gives the impression that they're huddled in conversation, veiled by trees shedding their foliage. I like this immensely; it's quite a brilliant piece of elegant, urban photography. The architecture renders the image timeless: there are hints of modern buildings veiled in the background, but everything else seems older, even if the buildings themselves are new. I like that mix, they way that this image seems to exist outside of normal time. This is brilliant.

Mark, first of all let me say that this photo is a perfect illustration of the beauty that obviously surrounds your neighborhood. These (Old Facades) are truly wonderful and have so much more character than the modern one's on display in most major cities today. In these modern times our haste to "get the building up" sadly had most contractors and engineers focused more on the time frame and bottom line, almost totally ignoring what a statement a detailed façade like one of these can make. Closer to the truth might be that they simply couldn't produce detailed works of art like this for an affordable price.

Mark, I dont know how you can get such a brilliant depth in your photos. One can not help wandering around in this Photograph in order to enjoy and explore sooo many details. Even the reflections in the window in the upper right side are so detailed and so thoroughly included. The clarity is to die for and so are the details and colors. It is impossible for me not to adore this photograph. The first I did, when I saw it was saying "AAAHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" A jaw dropper.

Wow. Wow! Your neighborhood has some exquisite old buildings, and they seem so graceful and elegant as they hold their spots between the modernity of the city. This POV gives us a taste of autumn, a taste of grace, and a wonderful dose of verticals and curves, complete with gargoyle, all beautifully softened by the swath of golds and greens. Stunning clarity and "thereness" in this amazing shot, Mark!

A delightful and very colorful photo of these old facades. So beautiful and one of the things I really enjoy about Chicago.

There's so much beauty in this shot words fails me. I'm not usually a big fan of autumn and its colors, but this year's been different. I've seen some magnificent things and this shot reminds of a lot of them. So much color and detail, but it's still a simple urban scene. I was coming home just at sunset tonite and caught sight of the sky. I had to pull over and just stare; it was that perfect. Something about this foto gives me the same kind of feeling. I like this a LOT!!

I love this little glimpse into Chicago's architecture. Such a marvelous variety of style and color and mood, building after building after building. Spectacular! You make me want to hop on a plane and come up there with my camera. Unfortunately it's too cold, but still ... the urge is there!!
