Description
This is the tailgate on an old trailer we use to haul stuff to the dump. It's structurally sound (tires are good, brake lights work, hitch is secure, etc.), but the frame has seen better days - the metal parts are rusting & the paint is peeling badly. But I thought it made an interesting abstract. Please zoom for better detail.
For those of you who might be into fantasy art, I've just posted a piece in the Bryce gallery here. Please forgive the cross promotion...

This is so much your vision and heart, I can't tell you. A simple ornery old tailgate, and you turn it into an intense, glowing and very personal image. I like that you have the light off-center---it lets the red-splotched wood sweep across the frame. I love the way you brought out the red---and it's even more bold because of the blues it sits on, two prime colors powerfully contrasting each other. And I love the metal hinge, and---whatever the material is on the far left: metal? Wood? maybe an apparition of someone's ancestor? (There's a ghost in there, I'm telling you.) That's potent metal: very active decay. And it's all framed with two thin bands, top and bottom. And lest I forget the centerpiece---the Eye., the reflector or light, (I don't know, lol! I truly don't know these things!) But you got a world out of a simple trailer-back. Terrific work, Claude. And I agree with Andrea: She links us to flickr all the time, you should definitely link us to your eye-popping Bryce gallery. I've neglected it too many times. I'm going there right now...

Fabulous capture - as anahata.c pointed out, there's a lot going on in this image! I've now got your alter-ego as my fave artist as well

I really, really like this! What a great find...the decaying textures of paint and wood are wonderful, and the shape of the light against the lines of the structure are perfect. Great shot!!
