Description
No, not part of the local freeway widening project, but simply what remains of a section of sidewalk in front of an abandoned home, captured 10/17/14, somewhere within the vast perimeter of the neighborhood.
I've tons of broken pavement shots taken over the years, but for some inexplicable reason have been reticent in posting them. Perhaps because they're not rose or sunset pretty, or that I have so much other subject matter to present.
Totziens.

Great job on this very cool capture, Harry. Someone needs to do some repairs and take a little pride in their community.

Such a wonderful composition, this massively cracked pavement; I love the stuttering curves of it, almost like tree branches. Great shot, Harry!

what a disaster for the sidewalk to be so bad ... there is no point to build if we can not talk ... repairs may be very expensive !!!

this may not be rose or sunset pretty (as you say), but you'll be delighted to know that I find this both pretty and delightful. (Remember you posted a shot of cigarette butts? and people were going "eeeeeeeeeooouuuuuuuuwwwww"? totally understandable, but to me it was a jazz dance of crushed and crazy-looking objects...I loved it. Well, this is what this looks like to me.) I've seen cracked sidewalks, but this looks like tremors hit it. Sidewalks on the Richter scale. Love that big center chunk, revealing what looks like a dark cavern underneath. And all the debris on its side and front. A jazzy crackup, kind of a cracked sidewalk ballet; and the blue-tinted wreckage on the right gives balance to the lighter grays of the rest. Keen seeing to catch this...

Ouch, my toes! I'd surely trip over this. Hope they fix it soon.

This one captured me from the thumbnail. There is a lot of drama in the thick slab of fractured concrete and the contrast between the dead gray against the vibrant green. It makes me think of the impermanence of man's creations; of jungles climbing over and into buildings; of grass creeping into cracks and slowly, inexorably crumbling the concrete to bits. The deep cracks and shattered debris is all there, and creeping over it is life, bent on further destruction. This is a cool shot! The cracks make interesting and pretty shapes, and the deep crack adds an element of drama. And it tells a story; a story of beauty, of destruction, and of continuation. I like this a lot!
