Description

I must celebrate, that my email program is up running again. SO here goes a tree with nice rich colors. That is how I feel right now. This is a tree made with OIL PASTEL crayons. It is actually the first time I use this medium seriously. I never felt happy with them. They just didnt want to please me, so I gave up very fast, but I saw alot of awesome stuff on youtube, made with these so I thought, why cant I, when many other can. So I decided to give it a go once more. But it will never be my fav medium. That is certain. Made one more, I will post tomorrow or maybe later today. Have a great one :-)

Helle, this is a marvelous presentation and you should be proud of your work with oil pastel crayons. I'm stunned this is your first time using them considering how nice this looks.

When you use oil pastels, you have to expect smeary and waxy appearance, and very intense colors. It just comes with the territory, unless you've worked with it for years. I love this piece. The reds around the tree make the tree look like flame. And the grasses---done in that smeary oil-pastel way---look like flames too. I know you want to get more control but it's just not easy with this medium; so instead you went 'with' the medium and made a saturated, flame-y image, with a tree that looks like the burning bush from Moses (in the Book of Exodus). It's got real fire to it. And it looks like you scratched out 'light-lines' in the tree (or you used a very sharp yellow crayon). The piece is saturated and on fire...
