You might spot me at Kirra Beach, the South-Eastern end of the Gold Coast, Australia, if you like beach walking like myself... but there is more ! My son Jeff (*jif3d*, here at Rendo, it helps to advertise, ooops)... he took this pic of me in 2000, then manipulated it in photo-shop and it's still one of my favourites. Just very briefly about my past... *born in East Prussia; *grew up in Berlin, West Germany; *migrated to "OZ" in 1960, (not the Wizard of Oz) but...AUSTRALIA ! I guess I was more into '2D' since early childhood, and thinking that my son Jeff may have inherited some of my artistic skills, because he translated them into '3D'. I am hooked on photography, since I discovered cameras... that's it in a nutshell. BTW - one of my fav.quotes.... ** I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure - which is trying to please everybody !** that's a wrap... Cheers Brigitte.

All are very surprising, beautiful and special to me, mein Liebes. Und du hast ein guter Hand von Fotografieren. Welche ich am meisten bewundert habe sind die Wale und die Koala Bärchen, aber auch dein letztes Bild ist wunderschön wegen die lustige Farben. Einfach Klasse gemacht, Gittie. Thank you very much for doing such a lot of work for us.

What a wonderful sculpture-fest you had this year! These are all wonderful. I liked the chain-mail whales, simply because of the material, and also the plastic rays, for the same reason. The sculptures are all fabulous, but somehow those two materials really spoke to me. Thanks for going again this year and for sharing the experience! I love this event! :)

So exciting to see these wonderful works of art, Brigitte! The ones I liked least were the joeys, but I love them all in their huge variety.

I have really enjoyed this series BB.

Fabulous collection. I liked the colorful rays and Sargent Joey. I wonder how surprised the gulls were when they swooped down to pluck the baby turtles off the sand.

love the comments, everyone got really involved, some listing their favorite sculptures, a few listing their not-so-favorites (lol), but people got excited by this. The sculptures are wonderful to see, wonderful too to see them as arguments for preservation and conservation; and wonderful to see all that creativity and skill put to such huge vivid animal pieces. But there's also your photos, your presentation, and you caught each one with real pizzazz, framed them just right, caught their vivid hues and strong light. I love how you caught the greenish hue of the hatchings, and I love the shadow and late day feel (or early day) of the manatees or whatever creatures these plastic stings are meant to portray. It's a beautiful capture of the colors, with fine shadows and textures around the creatures. The message of this one is, of course, to warn us about the mass of decay we've thrown into nature; but the artist managed to make objects of beauty out of that decay, which has another message---whether she intended it or not: Namely that, while we have all this discarded trash, we can make beauty out of it too; a way of recycling trash into art. These are beautiful sculptures. And the chain-mail hand (I'm using Tara's term, using 'mail' as a tightly woven mesh of wire) is a marvelous depiction of humans giving new nurturance to creatures they've half destroyed. A very exciting collection, lots of fun, and with important meaning to us all.

The 'stingrays' were the most colorful but the 'baby turtles' touched my heart with thousands of hatchling on the south Florida coast - we even shut down the street lights so as not to distract the hatchlings from making their way to the sea!

Sous la courbe de la brise maritime, très suggestif !

Excellent photos! All of these sculptures are really great! Hard to pick a favorite - The stingrays are super colorful and the seagull one seems very well done, but I'm partial to turtles so I'm going to say they are the best ;)
