Description
Sorry for being MIA at the moment, but I am busy with paintings that needs to be done before the Christmas season. So bare with me guys.
Today I am sharing this with you as this is dear to my hart and very emotional. In the start of this year a rhino called Fabian, was killed by poachers here in South Africa. Everyday there is killings going on and we are losing the battle to save them. So I followed the story of this rhino and the owner gave me permission to paint him. But unfortunately the owner sell his ranch as all his rhinos was targets and none left. The owner told me he does not want the painting, as I made it as donation in memory, not to sell.
So Fabian did not have a home after this. But a good friend of mine, Selomie Maritz works with orphaned rhinos found with their killed moms. She rehab them and give them a 2nd life. But it's costly. So I asked her if she would like the painting for funds. Well this week as I speak its on its way to her. I was in tears as he was like a child to me. The guy from the couriers that took the painting just asked me: "Are you done saying goodbye?" I just laughed.
Anyhow she contacted me again today and told me Fabian still has another place to travel. His going to Australia for a showing, for funds. So anyone of you who lives in Australia and can view the showing in January must go and see Fabian at the show. When I have more details, will let you know when and where in Australia.
Now here is his story and a photo of him, about the story with the painting I did. If this makes news, then you heard it here first. Thank you for reading this post and please follow me on fb if interested.

THE STORY OF AN UNUSUAL FRIENDSHIP
During April 2013 a remarkable friendship started between a white Rhino and small Pug. This is such a heart-warming story that we would like to share it with everyone!
Sir Fabian, a mature white Rhino bull, with a seemingly placid temperament, frequently visits the main Lodge area at Nyaru. Sir Fabian can be on the other hand, become very cantankerous. Madam Gigi, the black Pug puppy , became part of the Nyaru family on Christmas 2012. From day one it became quite clear to everyone that this small Pug (with a big question mark behind PUG) has a courageous and huge personality. One day Sir Fabian with his 2 ton body came for his supplementary feed in front of the lodge and Madam Gigi, still a puppy, saw him and ran towards the Rhino, to great astonishment to the owners and staff! There, right in front of their eyes, something remarkable clicked between Fabian and Gigi.
Fabian watched stunned and in awe when this small black creature in her pink winter jacket outfit approached him with an attitude not to be missed. A lot of sniffing, huffing and puffing took place and within seconds, Gigi had Fabian, under her small paw control. He then realised, that this is a lady with a huge personality who will stand her ground and does not get spooked by anything, let alone a Rhino!
From that day onwards, whenever Fabian came for a visit Madam Gigi with her too big for my paws attitude would ran up to him, give him a lick, chewed with him on his lucern treat and starts playing, catch me if you can or even gives him a nip at his ankles or tail. He will follow her around for a while before disappearing for his daily mud spa in the bush. When Fabian stays away for too long, Gigi will climb to the top of the double story thatched roof in order to have a 360 degree view of her surroundings to try and spot her over- sized wild friend.

Wonderful very sweet image and story. It's sad that people feel they have to hunt animals for such a small piece of ivory it would be ironic that an alien race invaded earth and started killing humans for there fingernails maybe then they would figure it out? but i doubt it. wonderful painting and i hope it brings some money and attention to an often overlooked travesty in this world.

Sweetie, first of all it was so nice to see you back after such a long time. The story of Fabian the Rhino was very sad and moving and touched my heart. I loved the story of the friendship that developed between him and the small pug. I'll pray to God that someone can put a stop to the evil hunters who would kill one of God's creatures.

Really sorry to hear about this senseless tragedy. There's so much of it in the world. Mankind is a threat to everything, including himself. A beautiful photo though. Who'd have though that relationship would get going.
