Description

Greetings Folks, Here, as promised, is the outstanding memorial the Bomber Command crews of all nations in Green Park.. It is I have to say a perfect piece of architecture, gloriously well designed and not a thing out of place.. This is a Panorama shot of the inside, hope it works and I will show more detailed ones later.. The ceiling is in the design of a Wellington Bomber and has part of one actually in it! (More details later).. For now zoom and take it in.. I also shot other memorials of note, and caught one or two sights not often spotted. Saw The Quireboys in concert (remember them lol), and I have a picture I went and found just for Mike! (Try guessing Mike?) Plus, I found the real Christmas! (will post!) Enjoy Rob

Very cool memorial, Rob. I like the way the pilot on the left of center is shielding his eyes while the morning or afternoon light is streaming through the archway. I wonder if the artist actually had this in mind when creating the work? Nice effect anyway.

Thanks for posting this. With so many lost I'm surprised the memorial took so long to materialize. Thanks for the great job assembling the panorama. Outstanding work! As I doubt if I ever will see this in reality, I'm very glad you've done this. Keep up the good work! :-)

Excellent shot of a beautiful and poignant memorial to a group of very brave men. RAF Bomber Command kind of got ignored by the Brit government after the war - no campaign medal until 2013. BTW: RAF flight boots were prized by USAAF aircrew.

Blimey! Great pano of this remarkably sculptured and detailed memorial to the gallant Bomber Command, mate, which, incidentally, has to be zoomed to appreciate. Was the figure in the center purposely done in black or did some wag place a long wool coat over him? Reminds me of the Grim Reaper.

You don't do pano's very often but when you do..........stunning!! It took far too long for this to come about, with so many it honours not living to see it. That said, a stunning memorial and fitting tribute. Like Greywolf44, I am drawn to the figure on the left, by design or not, a fantastic effect at the right time of day and you caught it at the right time of day....excellent.
