they called that as the roots come out the ground like this and if you fall on one with your knees hitting them ; it will hurt

I love Bald Cypress!! Trees with knees!! the roots look like knees coming out of the ground!! The Local arborist guy told me it would take the tree 60 to 70 years for my tree to develop knees.... I'm not likely to live that long!
