Description
Still trying my LuxRender experiments, this time I did a full re-render of the Head of the Beast scene.(found here - http://tinyurl.com/kwbr3lk)
I’m a little disappointed in the metal material that I selected for the armor. I used custom metal with the texture map and forgot to go something to set in reflections. I’ll have to read up on that. Other than that I’m decently pleased of the outcome, especially the emitter lights in the armor and sword.
This scene is using one mesh light set up in the same location as the point lights in the original with the point lights deleted. I also turned off the IBL in LuxRender. I did leave it in the scene so I could turn it on to see what was lurking in the shadows.
The render uses a Kodak Gold 200 film response and no lens effects since I’m not ready to try those out yet. I did this with Linear tone mapping since I like the camera controls it gives. This is a 10 hour render.
Coming from a long stint doing first film, then digital photography the controls and lighting set up in Lux feels very natural to me. So far I like the results.
As before the armor is the Lux Lucis armor from Daz and the chain mail texture is a from a royalty free clip art page that I applied to the V4 body suit. The "Beast" is Milk Man Andy from the Poser default figure scaled up and some playing around with the face.
