There is usually 25 metres of sand between the ocean and these stairs.

Some lakes here are growing too, making restaurants owners to raise the floor of their business, that now are flooded. Coatepeque's Lake raised three meters this years. Now they can compose a song "Stairway to Atlantid" :)
