Very cool work.

Very cool map you've created - either the wavy lines indicating water or else it would have to be the drops of ink that sometimes looks like acorns

I did have fun with the rivers. And I liked the idea of the dots looking like the cartographer just poked the tip his brush to indicate a city; but my favorite icon has to do with my heritage. Some of you may remember me mentioning it once or twice.

This is a really neat map. I have always wanted to be a cartography, and came really close to being one. I was hired by the US Defense Agency after much scrutiny, background and education checking ( I have had a background investigation in the '60s) but unfortunately to get the clearance required for the job (a SCI clearance) all family members have to be US citizens - and my mother and brother were German citizens. But back to your book cover, a map like this would definitely inspire me to read the book. Fantastic and to answer your question as to the Urubamba River could be rafted, a stretch of it, downriver from Aguas Calientes was surveyed that way by a bunch of US students in the 1930s.

Superb map, only miss the sea monster or dragon that used to be on all older maps :) The icon might be one of the castles, only guessing!
