Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Very cool long shot

So now I finally see what they're talking about when they say "long shot." Well...ok...maybe not. I like the panoramic crop this has; when photos have this sort of long-ness going on, you really get a good sense of scale and space and all of that stuff that makes photos fun, especially with distance and rolling hills and stuff like that. I really like the landscape in this. Really nice.

Lovely panorama of this farm with the low rolling hills, done in a mood monotone pastiche, Maz.

Returning to your gallery after an absence reminds me that you see places most of us don't. (Tara and Bill have, and a few others, but most of us don't see these sights.) This has a Depression Era feeling to it---I mean literally from that era of photography where such shots would be common. The beauty of this long farm layout, with the shadows and few light-spots, is desolate, lonely, and beautiful. You cropped it right---the long squat crop brings out the long sweep of the sight. It feels like the farm that time forgot. And there are no trees except at the farm...and then a big bleak sky. It really does feel like one of the FSA shots (Farm Security Administration---check them out at The Library of Congress online). Long moody shot, and fine seeing and choices, Marilyn.

I love how it's sort of snuggled into the gently rounded hills, as if it nestled its bottom right in there...wonderful shot!

I love coming across these isolated farms and ranches. It's such a peaceful feeling, especially since I know they're working their tails off while I'm retired and tooling around doing nothing! LOL!
