Description

The final graphic I'm posting about the strategic nuclear triad. This one covers Submarine Launched Ballistic Missiles or SLBMs. Todays SLBMs are capable of ICBM ranges. As with the Minuteman-III ICBM. The US has only one type of SLBM in operation. The Trident D-5 remains operational long after the others have been retired. Land based ICBMs were MIRVed until arms agreements limited them to single RVs. SLBMs are still MIRVed. I did the line drawings and I also built 3D models of many of these missiles.

Thanks, at least the out of control arms race is long since over. The Russians and us have less than half the number of ICBMs and SLBMs we once had, thanks to various arms treaties.

France and England also have SLBM's. England uses American missiles while France has their own home-grown designs.

Thats true. The UK now relies solely on SLBMs after giving up their aircraft based nukes.
