Description

Eye of the Sun is a cave type natural arch eroded in DeChelly sandstone. This type of natural arch results when roof collapse occurs over a cave, leaving a portion of the cave roof suspended by the walls of the cave. The dark streaks that look like tears are minerals deposited by water runoff. This is known as desert varnish.
