Stunning birthday dedication, I may say! :) Always amazed at how a few strokes of the brush, and your artistic imagination make for a most dazzling composition!

When you leave out the body, you have a way of completing the head and neck with the woman's hair. Her hair, here---on our left side (her right side)---reaches down and almost makes a 'pedestal' for her head. And her earring takes us down into that falling hair too. The face, again, has but one eye visible, and just two nostrils---no more of the nose is visible---and her deep red lips: These are all you need to make the face "whole". And the right side of the hair (our right side) balances off the "downward" nature of the painting, by flaring out into space a few times. Minimalist, but expressive. If one looks closely (and zooms), they will see the brushwork: It's in diagonals, which harmonize with the diagonal of her hairline. You get real balance between the mass of a head and all that open space around it; and you use hair to connect the two...Very finely done. Beautiful use of space here...

Beautiful... the old saying 'less is more' is so fitting for this.. there's just enough colour to make it 'pop'.
