Lilla Fiskargatan means the little fisherman's street. The photo is taken looking east towards the street. To the left is Grand Hotel and to the right is a store and apartment building. Lilla Fiskargatan is wide and quite straight as can be seen from the rows of white decorative lights hanging over the street.
Stora Fiskargatan (the big fisherman's street) is a narrow curved street to the right outside the photo and usually not decorated. The people who named these streets have had a wry sense of humor.
The smudgy white spots are rain drops flying about in the wind. No snow yet!
What I like in this photo are the different colors of the lights.
Enjoy!

small fish; big fish?

I agree, the history is good. Got to wonder what the person that named it had to drink that day?I like the lights too. My travels have been few out of the country, so I always like to see pictures from other places. The ones taken by people like you show the real place, unlike the "perfect" magazines. I have that "smudgy spot issue" too. It seems that the darling little critters I like to photograph love to watch me standing in the rain......

Very interesting night capture.

Fantastic shot.

Those lights certainly stand out mate. Maybe you could take one during the day as well, so I can see a bit more of the place?

Sure, Froggy. I'll try to do so tomorrow. :-)

A lovely and festive shot of the lights here, my friend! Nicely captured! Hope your monitor is holding up well...... (Inside joke, folks...LOL)

Maybe it's not so much "big street" and "little street" but rather "big fisherman" and "little fisherman"...? Those icicle lights must be pretty as you go down the street.

A beautifully captured, festive shot complete with snow! Good one! Rob
