Description
Pano and shots taken in Chinatown (Gerrard Street, 07/09/14) of the The Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. This celebration dates back to almost 3000 years and is usally held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese calender when the moon is at its fullest (New Moon).
These shots were of the Lions dance which took place along Gerrard St and stopped at each shop to perform. The lion dances and approaches a package of "greens" and a red envelope (usually contains money) at the front of the shop like a curious cat. It eats the package and then spits out the greens but keeps the red envelope which is the reward for the lion troupe. The lion dance is believed to bring good luck and fortune to the business.
Such celebrations always bring Chinatown alive, it was pretty cool to watch this close up!!
I would like to wish eveyone a Happy New Year! This year certainly has gone-by awfully fast and I am pretty happy to have kept a new years resolution which was to at least make one weekly posting here at render, I'm gonna do my best to maintain this in 2015!
Stay safe and I hope you all have great celebrations!!!
Many Thanks for viewing!!
