Description

Happy New Year for all people who like my models and write so nice comments. This model is an old one, completely revisited, from A to Z. It appears that I'm working better than 10 years ago!!! Render in Poser10. The Renault Floride is an automobile which was produced by the French manufacturer Renault between 1958 and 1968. Inside North America and Britain it was marketed under the nameplate Renault Caravelle. At a convention of North American distributors that took place in Florida, Renault's US dealers called for the creation of a Dauphine coupé/cabriolet which would improve Renault's image in the critical US market. The "Floride" name was considered unsuitable for 49 of the 50 states of the USA, however, since it could have implied disrespect to states other than Florida. For this reason an alternative name, "Caravelle", was from the start used for North America and for other major markets (including the UK) where the principal language was a form of English. A small rear-engined design by Pietro Frua at Carrozzeria Ghia, it used the floorpan and engine of the Renault Dauphine sedan. The car was offered as a 2+2 coupe, a 2+2 cabriolet and as a convertible, the latter being a cabriolet with a removable hardtop. Production got under way slowly, with only 3,777 cars completed in 1959. However, in 1960, following the important "Aérostable" suspension upgrades, Renault produced 36,156 Florides. Between 1966 and 1967 annual production tumbled from 4,880 to 2,991. During 1968 only 1,438 were produced, and it was during the summer of that year that Renault withdrew the Caravelle.

Funny thing about 10 years...we all get better I think, and your old models will be that much nicer. After working with over 30 of them as seen in my recent posting here in my Collectors composition, I have nothing but goo things to say about all of them.

THANKS... thanks alot - lol.... I don't think this is the same car as the one in the beginning of the show GET SMART, but it reminded me of it.... that's why I'm saying THANKS - LOL ... the Theme song to GET SMART is unique and catchy - AND - IT STICKS IN YOUR HEAD - LOL... that song is gonna be in my head for a long time now - lol... If you've never heard of GET SMART, it was a show, comedy/spy/secret agent show... starring Don Addams and Barbara Feldman.... google it and watch the intro, then you'll know why I said the tune sticks in your head - lol ... cool model you made, as always.... hey.... you ever gonna get into the idea I gave you years ago? A MORPHING CAR?.... one where you can turn the poser dials on the fender/hood/deck lid/ quarter panel/bumpers/wheels etc... to where they go from a small dent to a major total distruction??? Dude, I know that would be your top selling model of all time, advertise it right and people will eat it up.... after you do one model that way, I can see you fall in love with the idea and make all your future models that way... ok.... I gave you the idea again... remember where it came from - I'd love to have some of these.... one more idea... the VW... you aught to make dials for it to where you can turn it into a ba ja - I think I spelled that right.

This is fantastic. Here in the UK I think Renault Dauphines were used as mini cabs back in the 60's.. This is going on my wishlist.
