Looks like it might be a column of very moist air that crystallized as it rose into the cold upper atmosphere.

I was thinking the same thing. I believe they're called "Sun Daggers" or "Sun Swords"...something like that. Cool image and excellent capture!

Great capture, Mike, A missile launch? I hope not! ( Last week I was watching "The day after" and this remembered me the missile attack. Do you remember that film?)

That's definitely an interesting capture, Mike! Very weird... I've seen contrails light up like this in the early evening or morning, but those are usually not this brilliant.

It looks like it begins from behind that hill in the distance which would make it huge. Looks like the sky has ripped open. Strange and very cool image.

thats the nasty cloud on the border to france with the nuclear plant right on our borders, our wise "green-ass"politicians decided in the late 70s they did not wanted a nuclear plant in our country, thats why france build one at about 25 miles from the border.the downside is they now decide and we have no saying in that crap-plant.when you play with such things make sure you have the saying.!! you can look it up almost every week a little incident with nio danger to the plebs of course thats what they say, reminds me Fukusheed in Japan.- http://www.wort.lu/de/lokales/cattenom-alle-reaktoren-wieder-am-netz-54a6c2b30c88b46a8ce4eaec
