I always make this big deal about zooming (I always zoom), but this is a case in point. When zoomed, so much detail and nuance comes forth that is far less visible in the display version. This is so unusual compared to the images you'd done for a few years. It's still a fantasy, but it's a lush nature fantasy, with Hatty almost clothed by the plants around her. They include vivid fairy tale-ish flowers. I say 'fairy tale-ish' because they're half realistic and half painterly things, with very saturated in hue and which blossom forth like little waterfalls or starbursts. They're quite beautiful...and you contrast them with deep browns of the ground, and the textured greens of the plants. And the verticals of the falling lilic-colored flowers, and the long stems, feel like energy-lines rising above and out of her. It has a simplicity, directness and sweetness. I don't know anything about rendering models, so I can't appreciate what goes into skin tone, shadow, morphing highlights, etc; but she has a very lit presence and yet blends with the whole. A primal nature vision, simple and vivid, and very sweetly done.
