Description
'Angel' stands proudly in Birrarung Marr. Birrarung Marr is an inner-city park between the central business district in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and the Yarra River. It was opened in 2002. The name means 'river of mists' and 'river bank' in the Woiwurrung language of the Wurundjeri people, the Indigenous inhabitants at the time of European settlement of the Melbourne area. I will return to get some close-up photos that will better portray it's true size. She is HUGE! I took this through my long lens from the other side of the river whilst having lunch! You can watch Deborah creating 'Angel' in 1988 HERE.

Don't look much like what I envisage an angel to look like, but then again, this is stuff no one person knows, until we find out eh? Keen to see a closer view of the details mate.

O.K. I got the Woiwurrung name and think it sound quite beautiful actually, but.... that.. Sorry, it does not in any way, shape or form in my worse nightmare look like an 'Angel'.. Sorry Andrew mate, modern art turns me cold, it does here, so its not just yours.. Love the place name though.. Rob
