Description

I wasn't sure what gallery to upload this to because this is an original drawing I did of my version of a hypersonic transport which I drew sometime in 1977. I used to do stories which would feature my aeronautical and spacecraft drawings, both of which I would do with bic pen, crayons, colored pencils and markers. I scanned this image from its original paper drawing which I kept with many others over the years. I added the RGB values of the livery in order to accurately color the craft in 3D. I pasted my 3D model upload from December 23rd, 2014 into this pic so as to show how I built my lightwave 3D model from this drawing. I would show these concepts as being developed by actual existing contractors of the day (Lockheed is now Lockmart or Lockheed Martin) which I did to add a touch of realism. My drawing shows the vehicle having no windows. Even in 1977, I thought of futuristic aircraft going windowless because I figured video technology would advance enough to allow it. I had heard about digital imaging then as well, mainly from NASA spaceprobe imaging technology. I did not foresee the current consumer digital video revolution but assumed some sort of tech advances would occur to allow windowless (This was also to be a pilotless aircraft) vehicles. I used these ideas in stories about the future I used to do back then. Note the first flight date of 1986 and service entry of 1994...and the marks where I used liquid paper to correct mistakes. The faint box object partially obscured by the HST top view was a drawing on the other side of the paper that I used to calculate rough cabin size and passenger capacity. My old drawings showed me how difficult extrapolating future advances could be. Of the numerous drawings I did of technical advances back then, very few even came close to being accurate today, and this wasn't one of them. We still cannot develop an economical eco friendly SST, much less an HST.
