Description

I thought to show you my minimalist 'Christmas Tree' before I put the decorations into their little box and burned the twig. The more trashy the season becomes, and the earlier it starts, the less I am inclined to participate. I had a lovely family Boxing Day when the nine of us exchanged presents by the log fire and played games, just like we adults did as children. My grandchildren loved it, nobody touched their phones or tablets, and we are going to do it more often, not just at Christmas.

I loved your elegant decoration..with little angels rather like mine! I'm all the way with you re trash of the season and people glued to their IPADS AND PHONES..death to conversation and sociability. I've just had another birthday, so perhaps intolerance is growing!!

A beautiful tree! Lovely little decorations too! It looks like a flowering cherry tree? If so it may blossom as it is in a vase that's got water in! I always liked the idea of putting up a tree on Christmas eve. Then it has it's 12 days and keeps it tolerable! Maybe the trees sold should self destruct after twelve days! To stop them going on display in November!

Minimalism is something we should all indulge in from time to time.

Christmas = GREED! And sadly a good 90% maybe even more are ignorant as to what Christmas really is. I get even more minimalistic with no tree at all, no decorations/dust traps, All I do is realize the reason for the season, and to hell with glitzy money grabbing organized legal mugging. Good for you, all that is needed next year is no tree at all, and more family gatherings, sadly my mum and I were alone with each other, but have been for years. I am reminded of that great quote" You can select your friends, but you are stuck with your family" Fortunately you poo poo'd that with a nice family gathering. I am the only believer out of 4 of us, my brothers would prefer to take care of themselves rather than spare a small amount of time for their mum. It's my duty to take care of her. Very sweet. Reminds me of the...eh.. thing, I once made with tiny elfs and other Christmas things of wood. Dont know what you call it. Such one that is hanging from the ceiling in a string and tied to maybe 3 long sticks and they are made, so they are in balance. And they are never hanging still. Always rotating slowly. Wonder where I put it..............!

What's that I hear you say? You sat around with family, played games and TALKED?!! This could start a very dangerous trend that would mean the end of civilization as we know it. After all, if we can't trample each other to get to the post-Christmas bargains what will become of us? All seriousness aside, this is perhaps the most charming Christmas tree I have ever seen. Something a shepard might have put up while waiting for a star to appear. Although you Brits seem to have found a unique and useful way to recycle old Christmas trees: "Linton Zoo lions play with old Christmas trees" http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-30655597

Your imagination and Artistic talent has made your tree into a eye catching beauty Andrea. A quiet no glitz and glammer and no tree Christmas here--- however had the love of each other and the furkids. So nice to hear you and your family enjoyed each other's company without the interference of those annoying gadgets. Best wishes for a healthy and happy 2015 Andrea.

We had a pine cone. It was very nice, but I put it away several days ago. I like yours. Maybe next year I'll "branch" out! :P (I had to go back and see if Jeff had beat me to it, but he must not be feeling well ... no puns there!)

A very cool 'Christmas tree' and I zoomed to check out each of your decorations. Just to add to the discussion - I love your 'tree' holder.
