Description

I had to purchase this prop(Steel Town Blast Furnace) that became available at Daz yesterday. It made me recall the previous image I posted regarding the loss of jobs and industry in our country. http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=2568321&user_id=758126&np&np If I hadn't said it then, I'll state it now. My father used to say, the desire to make our lives easier and offer more conveniences has also made us unnecessary. This image is reflective of a period of time that is now long gone, never to return. We are now left with little more than brown fields, and the rusty skeletons of the steel mills and other factories which have long ago been abandoned. The life I had always thought was going to be the norm is now nothing more than a memory of how life was when young men and women dreamed of a future where one didn't need to assume student loan debt to raise a family. It seems like those things which made us prosperous and employed millions have gone for good; leaving us somewhere undesirable, unfamiliar, and in a state of continuous uncertainty. Thank you for viewing! TGIF!

Very powerful image and an unfortunate commentary on the politics that led us down this path of self-destruction - the corporate special interests convinced members of congress to pass legislation that allowed our jobs to go overseas and all the while give tax-breaks to those same corporations that sent the jobs overseas. and now those same corporations have convinced the SCOTUS that they should be treated like a person - if that is so, then send those 'people' off to war in whatever the war de jeur! Sorry about the rant! your image and statement brought this to the surface SCOTUS - Supreme Court of the United States wish I could rate this higher than a 5

I understand your position; but it is more than the SCOTUS and special interests. Blame the politicians in general; this may well be one of the most important areas where the blame starts; close to that(if actually not more important) is us the voting public. We let the pols get away with being bought off, crafting campaign reform which only creates an appearance of ethics, and we reward their incompetence, corruption, and self-serving interests with continuous re-election. We also must consider an awful lot of needless and excessive regulation and taxes which make it much cheaper to send our jobs overseas and ship the products home. Remember, President Clinton granted China "Most Favored Nation" status opening up the recent wave of job losses, allowed them to build their military to astounding levels, and now made them an economic powerhouse surpassing us. Since GM's bailout, I see more and more products from them coming in made in China which were once labeled as made in USA, Mexico, and Canada. We saved them in order for even more of their parts to be produced cheaper in China? We can go back even further too. After WWII it was decided nations tied to each other economically would be less likely to go to war with each other. While this might be true to a degree, it has done nothing to eliminate them as the third world nations now drive other nations to conflicts. I wish there was an easy fix too; but until we demand USA made, and elect pols with character who are more concerned with the restoration of jobs in our nation vs. re-election and perks of the office, little is likely to change for the better. As a nation we let our expectations wane when it comes to ethical leadership/governance, and we are now getting just what we allowed to develop.

What pimanjc said, and I thought this was a photo of a real live, or unlive, Pittsburgh, PA blast furnace, before I read your sober narrative. And, if you think the employment scene is bad now, just wait until the robots completely take over.

When are the corporate bean counters going to realize that if no one has jobs, no one has money to spend.
