Description

The commander of the U-boat is called the Commodore and describes himself as a privateer. This scene depicts the Commodore delivering a chest of contraband to an isolated offshore village of fishermen and smugglers. Then again, maybe the chest contains payment for contraband the Commodore is picking up. In the composition I wanted to balance the off-center U-boat with the background village. I wanted to avoid letting the village look abandoned but didn't think it should be bustling, so as with the U-boat crew, I added a few figures to support the delivery narrative. I needed to add enough other detail for interest and I was conscious of the various angles: the conning tower and hull of the U-boat, the oars, the structures and roofs of the village and the four seabirds against the sky. The village, sailing vessels, sky dome and water are from the Lake Village (DAZ). The submarine and its longboat are from my own Privateer U-boat. the various crew members are M4 and V4 wearing Working Man, Wanted Dead or Alive (DAZ), Rocky Mountains Legends (RDNA), and 1812 Seadog clothing. The seagulls are Songbird Remix Seabirds 2 and Flock Formations (Hivewire3D), and Noggin's Seagulls (DAZ). The chest is from the 1812 Blockhouse accessories. The U-Boat figurehead is wolmol's Wild Boar.

Outstanding image. It is almost too good as color photography of this quality did not exist in the U boat era.
