Description
This statue sits in the middle of what is known as the "Old Rose Garden" on the grounds of St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Jacksonville. Built in 1854, the church is thought to be the first church established in southern Oregon. I don't know who the statue is supposed to represent & haven't been able to find any information about it online...

I found this in a brief history of the church online...so it would seem the statue is of St Francis of Assisi, "In 1978, Bruce Butte, a well-known local artist organized a committee to repair the old Methodist Episcopal Church building for use as a traditional Episcopal Church. This required a great amount of labor and substantial funding to accomplish. The building required strengthening, new flooring, new front doors and an entry porch, proper electric wiring and lamps. Subsequently, a gas furnace replaced an old stove for heating. Then a small additional room was added on the back for storage and bathroom facilities. This work was done over a several year period, as was the development of the Old Rose Garden on the north side of the church building. Don Neilson was the main developer of the garden. The statue of St. Francis of Assisi was dedicated in Sept. 1988."

I would have said St. Francis of Assisi too, before reading the further comments. What a beautiful scene and a lovely capture!

I would have to go with Jeff's ID of Francis of Asisi - I bet it is even more beautiful in the spring!
