Description

On Wednesday January 7th, 12 journalists of the alternative comic weekly paper "Charlie Hebdo", most of them famous illustrators, a renowned and popular economist, and two policemen were savagely shot with kalachnikovs in the office of the paper or nearly by two French jihadist terrorists linked to Al Qaeda, because the jihadists and other mad fundamentalists didn't accept that Charlie joked about the prophet Mohammed (as they did also on other religions), and because France is military engaged against jihad in Mali and in the Near East. The day after, a third jihadist linked to the two first ones shot a peaceful police woman in the suburbs, then yesterday he attacked a Jewish supermarket and killed four other people. The three villains were finally shot by the special police forces after extremely violent and dangerous assaults in Paris and in a nearby town. Huge solidarity demonstrations immediately took place in most of the major French towns gathering one million people. Even more people are expected to demonstrate tomorrow Sunday 11. President F. Hollande and other head of state will be at the demo. Although most of the illustrators who made the comic journal have been assassinated, the survivors swore that the journal will continue and the next issue will appear next wednesday. My drawing is to honor the artists and other peaceful people assassinated for the sole reason that they are willing to leave in peace and keep their freedom of expression. Proudly hold your pencils and live free! This drawing was made under Adobe Illustrator CS6

If I were in Paris I would also join the demonstration (but I'm in Sweden. No demonstrations here!). Thanks for the fine image! Made with the same software our friends at Charlie Hebdo used? :-)

No, strangely all the Charlie Hebdo team apparently only drawn manually, although probably they did their colors in Photoshop. A sheet of paper, a pen or a brush, some India ink and of course the talent…and it's done in minutes! I draw with a Wacom tablet and a MacPro plus softwares, but it's not so simple… The killed people were really genius in humor and press drawing, some were famous since decades: Cabu (76 years old, famous for his comic series "Le Grand Duduche"), Georges Wolinski (81 years old), Charb… They were a great expression of freedom and advanced democratic ideas.

Beautiful work! This is my message to the terrorists: Je suis Charlie and I will kick your sorry terrorist asses and I will make you regret dearly what you did. I am not kicking your asses in the name of the freedom of speech, but in the name of the freedom to warn the world what a bunch of vermines you are. The freedom to tell the world that peaceful co-existence with you bastards is plain impossible, that we will never be able to establish a meaningful dialogue with your kind. So now the battle-line is drawn. See you in the battlefield, cowards.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. It is time for the world to stand as one against this cancerous scourge of filth. May they all burn in hell.

Thanks David for your thoughts! Democraty is always difficult to defend against barbary… but today some 3 million of French people were in the streets. My sister put flowers in front of the gate of the Hyper Cacher supermarket, where 4 other innocent victims were killed by the third terrorist.

so sad and hope the governments will learn from this and put in place things that will not let this happen again but i do not think they will do that

Thanks for comment Jocko. In fact some 1200 to 2000 French people have left France to do jihad in Syria and an official said that some 20 people are necessary to seriously look after them so to prevent possible attacks when they will be back. This is for the time in excess with the French intelligence agency (DGSE). In the case of the Kouachi brothers who committed the first crimes (the Charlie Hebdo murders), they came to do jihad some 9 years ago, probably in Yemen (it was unclear), and since then their serious and close attention during years by the authorities gave no results. What worsens the problem are the prisons, in which many prisoners can turn towards radical "islam" (remember that France has a difficult economic situation which doesn't help). Of course the present French government tries to do its best to solve these problems, not only now but because in 2012 another terrorist, Merah, killed innocent people.

I recall the reports of Paris being on a virtual lock down. terrorism is an atrocious thing that effects so many people. how many innocents were killed in the bloody conflict between the Irish and British

I told a lady Muslim employee at the airport that terrorism is not about religion, but the control of money
