Description

Yours truly with his lung cancer radiation guide marks. Gruesome, long hospital day with Denise yesterday. The first radiation session was excruciating! More than an hour motionless with my arms above my head, on a flat, totally hard surface with not even a hint of padding. I can endure a lot, but this was ridiculous! My pain level got through the roof, and got not much empathy from the workers this time. :( Hopefully that was an exception, and the 14 other radiation sessions (starting tomorrow) will be much shorter and less unbearable. The second thing (after two hours of wait in between) was the PET scan, and even thought it took even longer over all, at least an hour of that was just sitting and letting the radioactive dye make its way all over my body, and then the big session was around 20 - 30 minutes, and the head shot less than 10. So the PET scan was just fine, like all the other tests I had before, but the radiation session? Torture! :( Today's radiation session was much less bad than yesterday's. Definitely "targeted" radiation -- you have a bunch of little targets. Glad today was less terrible, and hoping this will really help! Our thanks to everyone for your prayers and good thoughts!
