kjer stands for "Kansas Jeremy." Yahoo screwed up things and added the rest. My good grrrl's name is "Julie Jane Russell Because She Ain't No Jack" but we just call her Julie and a host of nicknames (Mz. Demeanor, Land Shark, God Damn it!, etc.) BIO Born in North Dakota, learned to talk in Texas, early elementary years in southern Michigan near Lake Huron, brief time in Miami Beach (during WWII), back to Michigan. Parents divorced and we moved back to northcentral Kansas, which became my adopted home (although folks were 4th or 5th generation Kansans). At 18, joined USAF and served a year in Korea (after the cease-fire) and two in southern Japan; however, the only foreign country I served in was pre-Civil Rights movement Gulf Coast Mississippi! :) My Air Force job was control tower operator, then later worked in headquarters administration. Returned to Kansas, got married to wife number 1 and got a college degree (or two plus) and taught public school (8th Grade English) for 4 years. Adopted two mixed-race children (girl and boy). Spent a year ill and unemployed then began working for 25 years with mentally and multiply challenged folks in State institutions. Divorced after 25 years (amicably), endured 4 years of bachelorhood, then married wife Number 2. (Both fine women, by the way.) Retired for five years then got a part-time college instructor position, teaching Freshmen how to write at the college level for another five years, then retired a second time. Still with wife No. 2.
My first identity was as an artist. Later, also became a writer. Wrote about about nine multi-volumed science-fantasy novel manuscripts. Was given very encouraging rejections by editiors, but just never seemed to be what met their publishing needs. Gave up art (pastel pencils and fine-line ink drawings, mostly) for about 10 years due to operations on wrists that messed up coordination in fingers and created involuntary releases of my grasp. (It's very discouraging to spent 40 hours on a fine-line ink drawing only to drop the pen on it in the last hour or two.) Finally decided that avenue of expression was no longer viable for me and concentrated by creative efforts into writing. Then, about four years ago, I discovered the worlds of Bryce, Poser, and Vue and have been able to go back to my first love; art.
My association with Renderosity has been wonderful. In my gallery I get to combine both my creative loves: writing and art. I appreciate very much the responses and comments of viewers and thank those special few who keep comming back to my gallery. Interests in no particular order: 3D Graphic arts, writing (poetry and novels), photography, science-fiction and fantasy, science in general, astronomy (especially Mars and extra solar planets), ecology.

He could almost feel the great beast curving it abdomen, angling its sharp barb precisely at his body. A sinking feeling flooded him as death approached. His breath came in great, stabbing pains. Despite his terror, his body moved slower, not faster. Just ahead was the top of knoll—and the shaky promise of safety among the vines. He felt empty, used up. Somehow, he kept moving. Newman's foot caught on the twisted trunk of a vine he'd failed to see in his blind, headlong flight. He sprawled into the dirt. Narrowly missing his back, the monster rushed past—an intolerable, acidic buzz eating through his soul. A dusty, painful rain of small pebbles and sticks pelted skin and eyes. Half dazed, he hauled himself to a sitting position and frantically rubbed at his blinded eyes. He cleared them just in time to see the gorm circling around for another attack. Scrambling to his feet, Newman sought cover under a large rolled up leaf lying nearby. The mystified gorm hovered just above the leaf, trying to catch sight of him—its beating wings vibrating his fragile shelter and his body. The leaf protected him to some extent from the debris raised by the creature's wings, but thick clouds of dust filled his refuge. He fought to keep from choking on the dust, afraid any coughing would betray him. Apparently the gorm was not very intelligent. It seemed unable to figure out where he'd gone. Its attention was quickly diverted by a fleeing H'lomeh. It buzzed off in pursuit of the unfortunate Orange. Newman watched it go, his feelings a mixture of relief and guilt. Within his leafy chamber, he listened to the screams of the dying shoosh'tah-dai. He shed tears of rage against his helplessness to help the people who'd ministered to him. Hadn't they saved him from the sea? Hadn't they adopted him? Now in their moment of extremity, he could do nothing for them—nothing... The angry hum faded into the distant skies. He could not make himself leave. The leaf was safe, secure. It was his world, his womb. Beyond it there was nothing—nothing but death. He trembled violently, and curled into an even tighter ball. His senses shut down, his mind going away to a place even safer.

Man I miss reading your stories as much as I've enjoyed viewing your creations. Watching any type of fictional movie about some insect has always been a fun past time, the subject and cause either some natural or unnatural evolution of, or some experimentation gone out of control. Recently seen the Lavalantula air on the space cable channel. Your theme with larger than human wasp like creatures fits right in there! :) Hence just finished watching Teraformars, first season on Crunchyroll anime video site (subscription optional and is legit). It too featured a insects of human sized proportion with inteligence closer to the human norm. Its a series about a Mars terraforming project gone awry. Btw, Just got into Vue too! Going to be using Vue now as my main goto rendering application.
