Description
Captured 1/13/15, early am, not far from my hackneyed haven. Probably one of the best POVs I've acquired on a bench, at least as far as the armrests are concerned.
Ciao.

It's obvious that someone attempted to paint the bench white. There's more paint on the ground and on the mat. Nice POV

Actually, if you look closely, you'll see that the paint was used to do the door and trim on the house rather than on the bench.

The weathered wood adds a layer of atmosphere to this wonderful photo, Harry; feels like someone loves and uses this bench often. Beautiful shot!

I, in one of my few recent photo outings, just photographed several park benches covered in snow. (We had a whale of a snowstorm last weekend; and, ala your advice, I decided I'm NOT going to let it go without some photography.) But after re-viewing 20 or more bench shots, I decided to leave that to you and Denise, because mine were SO boring, the benches sued me for defamation-of-character. I mean it. Their KIDS sued me. I can't overemphasize this: I don't know how to DO many of the shots you do. I just don't feel them when I'm the one shooting. My benches just 'sit' there, with no life, no personality. And I know that if you shot the same benches, you'd get all this life, feeling, composition, etc. It's just a mystery to me. Anyway, yes the pov is classical, and the beautiful arm rests stand out. And the 3-part feeling of the shot---facade, bench and ground---is wonderfully contrasted. And the grain and hues of the ground are wonderful---with that spilled paint, which is terrific. (I understand your comment to your son: Yes, it probably was used for the facade; although, if the painters really DID want to paint the bench, I'd suggest they get a little more paint for the job! Those few splotches ain't gonna cover a throw pillow...) The rug on that angle is a wonderful counterpoint to the piece. It's really classic, Harry. Terrific! Man, I gotta learn how to do this. My bench shots suck the big one (pardon my french). They just don't get off the ground...
