Description

This series was taken while waiting for the traditional Epiphany bonfire at Cavallino (Little Horse), a village on a strip of land between the northern part of the lagoon of Venice and the Adriatic Sea. By the way, the boat was full of duck decoys. The bonfire, representing the old year, was an old hag on a huge (about 20 meters high) heap of wood on a kind of pontoon on the water. Great. I remember going to this 15 years ago! The farmers would watch the smoke, and depending on which way it went, they would know whether the coming year was going to be a success................allegedly!
