Description

Before I left Monument Valley I wanted to take a portrait of Aaron and his wife Marguerite. She declined even though I offered to make her famous. Aaron is on the left of this image. His partner, Bob, is on the right. Aaron listened a lot and spoke little. Bob was a talker. He told humorous stories of his time in the Air Force and his career in the forestry service. He also had stories of being denied service and other insults because of his race. When the snow covers the valley Aaron will travel the 130 plus miles to Page, Arizona to work at the Navajo Power Generating Plant. He will be gone for four months until spring. Until then, his wife will take care of the property and their four children.
