Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.
For those looking at my gallery, enjoy it and feel free to leave comments and sitemail! Good day to all!

This, I have never seen before. But there, but by the grace of a few odd ball universal accidents, go I. So, by that logic, I do try to spread a little light around when I can. It is too bad that our civilization still can not do better.

I love people watching, I wonder if the couple in the foreground are speaking about the man with the lampshade on his head? Great capture. x

We get the beggers standing in front of the grocery store. Not a lot of people carry cash anymore. But they would drop some groceries. A can of this or that or something. One time a guy had a dog with him. I thought to myself, gee, poor dog is homeless, so I bought the dog a bag of dog food, and not the cheap stuff. I dropped the bag next to the guy, he was getting quite a haul from customers. I got back to the house and discovered I'd forgotten to buy the french bread for spaghetti and had to go back. So, when I get to the grocery store the guy is gone, and left behind where he was sitting is a mess of discarded bags, and trash, that some minimum wage kid has to pick up, and, the bag of dog food, unopened and tossed aside. Now mind you, it wasn't a big bag of dog food, it could have been easily carried at the bottom of a backpack. Or, at the least, open the bag and let the dog have it's fill. Needless to say, the next homeless guy that gets anything from me better be wearing a lampshade, leotards, and dancing the March of the Toy Soldiers from the Nutcracker Suite. I think people are fed up with these con-artists, and that's why they need a new and clever shticks. On the flip-side. I love you find such cool and interesting captures!

Strange...but interesting photo.

There's actually no visual evidence that it's a guy; you can't see the face, the hands are gloved, and the figure is not revealing anything. It could be an alien, for that matter. Maybe it really is looking for light and not money; wonder what would happen if you dropped a few D-cell batteries in the bag? Or a light bulb? Strange and wonderful candid shot, Chip!

Yeah, the lampshade caught my attention! :)

Although a distress is do not funny ... but the "floor lamp" is really an eye catcher. I love street photography and motion blur is always a welcome addition and authentic. Asked shots of people are an abomination to me.
