Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

My stepmother found out that a feeder is just a squirrel buffet. But, hey, everybody's got to eat. Dogs are banned from my complex so our resident squirrel roams unmolested. Both images are wonderful close ups. I hope the squirrels have learned to stay away from Ralph.

Great capture, if that is through a dirty window I hate to think what mine are. Interesting with some of these grey's they have a touch of red in them yet the grey squirrels have driven out the red's in many parts of the UK. Some gardeners don't like them when they start to hide their nuts in a well manicured lawn or steal fruits even under nets etc. I do love to watch them, such acrobats. Nothing keeps a squirrel from their nuts.

They are pests at the feeders, but I've got my feeders baffled so they can't reach them, all but one; the birds are messy enough eaters that there's enough fallout to support several familes of squirrels in my garden. It drives the dog crazy, since she can't catch them, and they taunt her with that constantly, watching her approach and waiting until the last minute to race up the trees.
