classic street stuff, I agree with the above that it's a fine find (the sign). But the pic is also a terrific pastiche...the combination of elements, all that dark gray, that ripped paper or paint, the interrupted graffiti, the framing of a window on the right with a---I don't know what, on the left, maybe a doorway, maybe a window, maybe a painting of some kind---it just makes a fine balance to the window. And that crazy inferno-like paint on the bottom, with some blue scribble of some sort...all topped off with very geometric ornament on top: Real urban stuff. In the middle of it, "I don't love you"---in stencils, on top of it. Terrific capture, in composition as well as content. I know you do many fine water and beach shots, but your urban work is terrific too. You've got a terrific eye for the rhythms and stray musics of urban life. Thanks for stopping by my gallery from time to time; and re your comment about straightening out my tilted pov (on a lake shot w/ snow)---I agree it would've been better, I felt it the minute I saw the pic. (It was so freakin' windy, I couldn't hold the camera straight.) But I left it in out of instinct and no more---sometimes those instincts are way off, lol, but I just go with them to break the mold and not get into a too strict a mindset. Chicago's architecture can make one very 'cubist' after a while, and sometimes I need to shake things up...
