Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

This is the first of your letters I had seen because I was off for a while so naturally I had to go back through your gallery and find the others, What a wonderful idea. These illuminations are very inspiring. Thanks for sharing the fun with your talent.

Devastatingly Daring and Dramatic.

I was going to start my next session with two D's: Denise and you. (An-D-rea. It's stretched, but you were in the group.) But when I saw another LETTER entry from you---having been part of this series---I had to drop everything and come here pronto. You lost the Medieval feel? Well you have the gold leaf, so you have the "illumination". (I know it's not real gold-leaf, it's a drawing of it: But it feels like it!) As for the Medieval: It's hard to be Medieval when you're using dice and big duckies and a modern doll and dominoes. Whaddya gonna do? Spin a Biblical tale around them? But it IS medieval because you've crammed them all into a cornucopia, the way the old illuminators did; and you let them weave in and out of each other, also the way the old illuminators did. The D is clear enough, you got the big bulge of those Medieval D's (bulged, I'm sure, to allow artists to fill them up with everything under their sun); and the tails, I guess you could call them serifs. And you made a gold sheath across its top. Then you have that Celtic circle again---which I love---and an almost Oriental doorway---which I also love! didn't expect that there---and Fritz, right? I mean, that's Fritz? (Or his 14th C cousin?) The rest is a big festive pileup of the other 'd's, with a great smiling doll like a puppet waiting for someone to animate her, your signature feet, an Ana daisy (!!! it looks like her avatar!), a big dice/die, and so on. It's delightful---so yeah, it's Medieval in spirit. And it took me a while to find the eggs, but there they are, atop the doorway! (I'll skip the cheap joke about "eggs and lintels".) (Lentils???? It's not funny, but at least you gotta get it...) These illuminated pages were supposed to be cornucopias, and that's what this is. I have to get back to this: I think I got to "Q" and stopped...and I hope Helle's seeing this, even though she's on hiatus. (She STARTED this whole thing: I'll drop her a note. She's responsible for the fate of at least 3 of us! I know she'll love this.) Love it. I'll wait patiently for your E...

Amazing! This is such a challenge! Medieval subject material was far more limited in scope I suppose. The modern twist has endless lists for some letters though!

What fun!

The first page of the medieval manuscript "Sir Fritz and His Search for the Holy Treat". I hear it is a riveting story about his 'dogged' pursuit. But you left out D-urleyBeachBum.

Outstanding work Andrea. God bless.

Dynamic creation, love it!

I love that Fritz seems to have weaseled his way into this one. He's perfect for it, not only because he's a dachsund, but because he's long and curvy and just so darned cute ;) Great work!!!

Yay! What fun this is! I laughed at Mark (as I often do) because when I first saw this and my eye fell on the daisy, I thought, "Ana doesn't start with a D!" And then, "Oh ... it's a daisy!" I hope you'll continue to be inspired to do these letters. This is wonderful!

I thought that the 'D' was evident but I have to admit - it took me awhile to find the dozen eggs! A super creation!!!
