That's how I got my current computer too, well not from a friend but it was a Refurb of a bunch of Dell's traded in on an Upgrade by the VA Hospital, plenty of power and speed like new, a Core 2 Quad, 3.3 Ghz 180gig HDD, win7pro installed for $200, that's a good deal had it for almost a year and it's been flawless. I think Refurbs are the way to go, had nothing but problems with New ones I've had, Had 2 Refurbs this Dell and an older IBM/Lenovo that never had a bit of problems, big believer in used computers. Peace

Superb first render in P9! Sometimes, it's the simple scenes that are best. It's always difficult to change of pc. Have a good Tuesday!

My computer has 500GB and I use for poser an external drive with 1 TB. My Runtime is still from an older version and I work with Poser14. So when something with my poser get wrong I have at least not to install all the content again. Had that a few times!!! However your image is lovely!! Wonderful work as always!! It seems you are a fan from that song. I love it from the searchers! Hugs Ute

An outstanding first go with P9, Steve! So glad you have a 'puter that will work with it. I think once you get used to P9, you're gonna love it! I know the interface is different on the older versions of Poser.... I cut my teeth on Poser 8, which was after they changed the 'look' and user interface, I think. Anyway, after seeing what you've done all these years with P6, I'm looking forward to what you'll create with P9. I know it'll be great!

Oh, and I'm sooo glad to hear everything is good with your mom! Great news!
maiden_of_darkness
Congrats on the upgrade!!!!! I'm using poser 8 and I really don't like the new interface either but we'll get used to it:) You're first image is very nicely done :) Glad you got the new computer :) Looking forward to more :)

You'll never regret the upgrade to poser 9 with a faster computer. Agree that you should just get a big external computer and then transfer the files over... I did it that way and I would never have been able to find the time to reinstall. I think this first poser 9 render already shows the quality increase... just look at her skin tones and the wonderful even shading. Great concept to do it on pure white, with a simple set, like a classic pinup. Well done.
jocko500

This looks really great! (Lovin' the little blue character there.) ... and one of the best parts about upgrading from Poser 6 - you now have multiple 'edit-undo' levels! Yay! (That always drove me crazy with P6 - only having one undo level.) One nice thing about re-installing content (that is, if you don't use the external-drive option) is that you get to re-discover all of that old content that got lost somewhere along the way. ("I KNEW I had that item somewhere!") Good to hear about your Mom. Hope all else is good with you and yours. Welcome to your new computer/software! Can't wait to see what you'll create now.

There's also alot of fun to be had in re-visiting old renders to see how much you can improve upon them, with the new rendering options.
