Description

This Bald Eagle had injured his left wing and it can not be repaired. He will never be released back into the wild. This is a temporary enclosure where he was being held until his permanent home is finished. He will live out the rest of his life in a zoo or national park education center. I was playing with some settings on my camera and took about 20 photos. The eagle was behind the wire fence but this one photo looks like his head was outside the fence. I can not explain the photo but I liked the results. Bald Eagles can be as long as 37 inches (94 cm) and with a wing span up to 95 inches (239 cm). The bald eagle is important in many Native American cultures and is the national bird of the United States, Very poor lighting but it does zoom nicely. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Strange about the view of the beak! I cannot look at these birds without hearing the Muppets version in my head, declaiming on the disgusting fact that he has just discovered , that underneath their feathers birds are NAKED!

They are such gorgeous birds; I can't get used to seeing them all over here, it always seems like everyone should be stopping and pointing. Shame about his wing injury. But living in a zoo will give folks a chance to appreciate him up close and learn to allow their natural habitats to remain free.

Good that it is nursed, in the wild, he would have no chance of survival. Excellent and detailed shot, even if the light was not very good.

The first thing I noticed was that the eagle had his head with his beautiful feathers exactly out of the fence, some clever mounted, my friend. Anyway it is a beautiful bird and pictures, too bad he will never fly, but I think they will take good care of him. Thank you, dear Dana for your nice and fine comments on my gallery, what I like is that you show the video of the music man to your grandchildren, so special to know this, and that they like it. :)

Seems like he's saying "waiter, I'm still waiting for that rodent !" Sorry to hear he'll never fly again, but at lest he'll be looked after...eventually. ~Cheers~

This not-so-bald eagle does project a certain air of dignity about it. Maybe it's the whole head of white feathers. Very sorry to learn it's injured and can no longer fly. Hope it remains well taken care of. Great capture of the countless amazing faces of Nature as usual!
